Do you ever feel stuck? Everything just feels stagnate and you’re ready to get the energy flowing in your life again? What I’ve learned, is that one simple change can make waves of change. In our culture, we are told to buy the next big thing or do some extravagant retreat because that will help us make a shift we can’t seem to do ourselves. And that the solution we are looking for must be complex. When really, less is more and the continuous small steps taken will get you were you want to go versus the sporadic giant leaps.
I’ve been sensitive to energy my entire life and it’s taken me a few decades to accept how much my environment truly affects me. As a kid, I would intuitively rearrange my bedroom whenever I felt stagnate and it would help me shift my energy. My mother, however, was not thrilled when I decided to take it upon myself to rearrange the other rooms in the house.
Below are seven small ways to shift the energy in your environment.
1. Clean/Declutter Your Space

One of the best feelings is walking into a freshly cleaned room and seeing the transformation of clutter, heaviness, worry and stress turned into simple, light, airy and peaceful.
It’s really quite disgusting to realize how much skin we shed on a daily basis and that it makes up the majority of dust in the home. Vacuuming, dusting and wiping down furniture is like giving a room a bath, you can get rid of the filth and improve your air quality.
Declutter your space. Sometimes we don’t realize that certain objects are holding us back, until we get rid of them. If you’re a feeler, you can normally tell when it’s time to say good-bye to an old lamp or a rug you’ve had since college, because it’s not just an object but a piece of energy tying you to a past version of yourself.
2. Add a Plant or Fresh Flowers

Everything is made of energy including plants. They help purify the air and naturally add good energy to your space, whether it be your cubicle or living room. The modern world can put humans in a box with so many conveniences, that we forget that we are not robots but in fact human beings, who are very connected to nature.
Fresh flowers can add a touch of playfulness and liven up the space, whether they’re from the farmer’s market, grocery store, or your neighbor’s backyard.
3. A Fresh Coat of Paint

When a room gets stagnate, change the paint color or add some wall paper (it’s back in style). Colors can take you on an adventure. A light color can bring softness to the room. A bright color can bring playfulness and creativity. A dark color can add some moodiness. An earthy color can help ground you. What kind of energy do you need?
4. Rearrange or Stage Furniture

Maybe it’s time to take the accent chair from the office and place it in the guest bedroom. That bathroom portrait could lighten up the upstairs hallway. Changing your space, shifts the energy in the room. Feng Shui, the spatial arrangement in relation to energy flow, is a great tool to use in each room. It can help with where to place your bed, which wall to hang your mirror, or what colors you should avoid in the kitchen.
5. Smudging

Smudging your home has gained popularity in the last decade. You can do it the traditional way with a stick of dried herbs or use bottled spray. Both of them are effective. The first method, you should avoid using in an apartment building, so you don’t set off the smoke alarms and remember to keep your windows open.
You will start both by setting an intention to clear the negative energy from the home and then go room to room. Note: Smudging your home will get rid of negative energy that still lingers from a fight, a toxic relative that visited, or your stress that’s left over from the big project. It will not, however, get rid of spirits by itself. You will need to hire a professional for that.
6. Open Your Windows

Getting some fresh air into the house is great for creating air flow. If it’s the dead of winter and 4 degrees, maybe go for opening the curtains to let sunlight in, unless an arctic breeze is more your style.
7. Add a Crystal

Crystals can help amplify, transmute, protect and clear energy. A few ways to add them to your space are; a crystal sun catcher, adding a crystal to your bed side table for sleep or your office desk for abundance and creativity. There are numerous ways you can add a crystal, when in doubt buy a crystal.
Hopefully, you will try a few of these everyday methods out and it will bring the shift you’ve been looking for!
