Visual journaling — Yes, as self-explanatory as you think it is.
This post is more about sharing an idea that has worked for me than going in to great detail about how to curate the perfect journal. It’s about expressing yourself and your emotions through images instead of words, because as they say “an image speaks louder than words.” You can also think of it like collaging or creating a mood board but on a regular basis to get the energy that’s stirring inside of you onto paper to be expressed.
I started visual journaling in high school by accident. I really enjoyed making collages, so if I saw something I liked I would put it on a PowerPoint and the number of slides began to grow. By college, Pinterest had been created. So, the pins I wasn’t brave enough to pin on Pinterest I would put on my PowerPoint slide. I ended up with three PowerPoint documents with 150 slides each. Through this process, I could visually see how much I was changing and growing and I could see my internal world being reflected back to me in the external world.
